Location: Hybrid [Remote and Onsite (Nigeria)]
Type: Full-time
Reports to: [Marketing Manager / Creative Director]
About the Role
We are looking for a Graphic Designer to create high-impact visuals that drive engagement across social media and YouTube. You will own the design of YouTube thumbnails, logos, banners, headers, and all social media collateral graphics. Additionally, you will enhance images with illustrations and graphic elements before they are posted by our Social Media Manager. This role is a mix of brand identity work and daily performance-driven social assets.
Responsibilities
Brand & Identity Design
- Design or refresh logos and brand marks that work across digital platforms (website, social media, email).
- Create banners and headers for YouTube, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other platforms – ensuring proper dimensions and responsiveness.
- Develop and maintain a brand style guide (colors, fonts, logo usage, illustration style) if one does not already exist.
Social Media & YouTube Graphics
- Design YouTube thumbnails that are clickable, readable at small sizes, and aligned with video content (collaborating with the Video Content Creator).
- Produce daily/weekly social media collateral: quote graphics, promotional posts, event announcements, carousel slides, and infographics.
- Add illustrations, icons, or decorative elements to existing photos and images before they are handed off to the Social Media Manager for posting.
- Adapt existing designs for multiple formats (e.g., 1:1 for Instagram, 16:9 for Facebook, 9:16 for Stories/Reels).
Illustration & Image Enhancement
- Create simple original illustrations (icons, spot illustrations, decorative elements) to enhance stock photos or branded images.
- Retouch and composite images – adding text, shapes, masks, or illustrations to make them on‑brand and engaging.
- Source and legally use stock assets (photos, vectors) where needed, or work with the Video Content Creator on shared libraries.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with the Social Media Manager (who will post your graphics) to ensure designs meet platform best practices and campaign goals.
- Collaborate with the Video Content Creator on YouTube thumbnails and any motion graphics that require static design elements.
- Organize and deliver final files in correct formats (PNG, JPG, SVG, PSD, Figma, etc.) with clear naming conventions.
- Iterate based on performance data (e.g., A/B test thumbnail click‑through rates, social engagement metrics).
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Graphic Designer, Digital Designer, or similar role – portfolio required.
- Proficiency in design software: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (essential). Figma, Canva, or Affinity Designer are a plus.
- Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and composition for digital/social media.
- Experience designing YouTube thumbnails that drive clicks (show examples in portfolio).
- Ability to add illustrations to images – either by drawing original vector elements or compositing existing assets.
- Familiarity with social media image dimensions and best practices (e.g., safe zones for text, avoiding clutter on small screens).
- Basic knowledge of file optimization for web (size, resolution, format) to ensure fast loading.
- Ability to take constructive feedback and deliver multiple rounds of revisions.
Nice‑to‑Have (Not Required)
- Experience with motion graphics (After Effects, Rive) or animating static designs.
– Knowledge of UI/UX principles for website or app graphics.
– Familiarity with brand strategy (positioning, tone of voice, audience personas).
– Experience using stock asset libraries (Envato, Storyblocks, Adobe Stock).
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
- Deliver 5-10 thumbnails per week that maintain or improve YouTube click‑through rate (CTR).
- Produce 10-15 social media graphics per week on time for the Social Media Manager’s posting schedule.
- Establish a reusable template system for recurring graphic types (quote posts, thumbnails, banners) to cut production time by 30%.
- Receive positive feedback from the Social Media Manager and Video Content Creator on collaboration and file organization.
