Video Content Creator (Short & Long Form)

Location: Hybrid [Remote and Onsite (Nigeria)]
Type: Full-time
Reports to: [Marketing Manager / Creative Director]

About the Role

We are seeking a Video Content Creator to produce engaging videos for multiple platforms – from punchy Short-form clips (YouTube shorts, TikTok, Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels, other Shorts) to in-depth Long-form videos (YouTube, Facebook, webinars, internal training, etc.) up to 10 minutes in length. You will own the entire production process: concept, scriptwriting (with AI assistance), AI voiceover generation, asset sourcing, and professional video editing. This role blends creative storytelling with technical post‑production.

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Pre-Production (All Formats)

  • Conceptualize video ideas based on audience needs, platform trends, and brand goals – for both short and long formats.
  • Write scripts (AI‑assisted using ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) ranging from 15‑second hooks to 10‑minute narrative arcs. Adapt tone: punchy for short‑form, educational or story‑driven for long‑form.
  • Generate AI voiceovers (ElevenLabs, Murf, Play.ht) – select appropriate voice models, pacing, emphasis, and breaths to sound natural over longer durations.
  • Source or create visuals: stock footage/images (Storyblocks, Pexels, Artlist), simple animations, screen recordings, or basic graphics.

Video Editing & Post-Production (Both Formats)

  • Ingest and organize all assets: voiceover tracks, stock clips, images, music, screen captures, and any provided raw footage. Log and sync as needed.
  • Assemble rough cuts – for long‑form, build a clear narrative structure (hook, body, conclusion) with logical scene flow.
  • Apply transitions, basic color correction, and audio leveling (EQ, compression, loudness normalization). For long‑form, ensure consistent audio levels across all clips.
  • Incorporate motion graphics (lower thirds, titles, captions, chapter markers) – either from templates or provided by a Graphic Designer.
  • Add engagement tools: text overlays, zooms/pan (Ken Burns on stills), sound effects, background music, and captions. For long‑form, use visual pacing to maintain retention (e.g., B-roll inserts, dynamic cuts).
  • Export final videos in platform‑optimized formats/resolutions (9:16 for short‑form, 16:9 for YouTube/long‑form) with correct codecs and bitrates.

Long‑Form Specific Responsibilities

  • Structure 10‑minute videos with clear chapters or timestamps.
  • Use retention editing techniques (pattern interrupts, visual variety, previews/recaps) to keep viewers watching.
  • Manage longer voiceover sessions – ensure consistent tone, edit out mistakes, and adjust pacing.
  • Optionally add end screens, cards, or calls‑to‑action appropriate for YouTube/long‑form platforms.

Delivery & Iteration

  • Deliver final videos on schedule, organized by format (short vs. long) with clear naming conventions.
  • Iterate based on performance metrics (retention graphs, average view duration, click‑through rates) and team feedback.

Requirements

  • Proven experience creating both short‑form (under 60s) and long‑form (up to 10 min) videos – portfolio required with examples of each.
  • Proficiency in video editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut (desktop and Mobile). Must handle timelines of 10+ minutes.
  • Experience writing scripts for video – AI‑assisted writing is welcome. Must demonstrate ability to structure a 10‑minute narrative.
  • Familiarity with AI voiceover tools (ElevenLabs, Murf) and ability to produce natural, long‑form narration without robotic monotony.
  • Basic color correction and audio mixing (leveling, noise reduction, loudness normalization for long‑form consistency).
  • Ability to source and legally use stock assets (royalty‑free, Creative Commons, or licensed).
  • Strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and platform‑specific retention tactics (e.g., hook in first 5 seconds for short‑form; chapter markers for long‑form).
  • Reliable computer and internet for rendering longer videos (up to 10 min at 1080p or 4K).

Nice‑to‑Have

  • Experience with motion graphics (After Effects, Motion) for intros/outros or animated explainers.
  • Basic knowledge of YouTube SEO (titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails) or social media algorithms.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Notion, Asana, Trello).

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

  • Produce 5 – 10 short‑form videos per week  and 2 – 3 long‑form videos per week of 5 – 10 minutes each
  • Maintain or improve average view duration / retention rates on long‑form content (e.g., >40% retention at 5 minutes).
  • Seamlessly integrate AI tools to cut script‑to‑export time by at least 30% for both formats.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: Competitive Monthly rate (#120,000–#300,000/Month depending on experience). Salary Increase for exceptional candidates. Please include your rate or salary expectations in your application.

  • Benefits: [e.g., flexible hours, remote work, paid time off, Unlimited browsing data (office WiFi), constant power supply, health stipend].

  • Payment terms: Monthly / bi-weekly
